Brand New School

In May, every teacher at my school had to pack up everything, I mean everything, in their classrooms because our school was being renovated over the summer. The last day of school, while students were still in the building, the construction crew was walking through the halls, moving things. On our staff development day (the day after school gets out), we had no furniture or chairs to sit on, since they were working so quickly to move everything out.
Even with that jump on the construction, our school isn't ready! I think we are all getting a bit nervous that we will have two days to get our classes set up before we have to be back at work.
Jimmy and I drove by the other day and took some pictures through the windows. This is one of the main hallways that leads to my room. The kindergarten hall is just on the left.

This is what my room currently looks like! AAhhhhh!! It looks like they have a lot of furniture and boxes moved in, but we can't get to our classrooms because the front office hallways look like this:
And this....
I know it will be so awesome once its finished! But, even when the construction is complete, the cleaning crew still has to move in! Wish us luck!

Did you see it?

Last night, the Endeavour Space Shuttle was scheduled to fly over our area at 9:12pm. At 9:09pm, mom, dad, Jimmy and I got pretty excited when we saw it. We could not believe how bright and big it was, until we realized what we were watching was an airplane. What a let down. So, we kept looking up for another few minutes.Three minutes later, at 9:12pm, we saw Endeavour! Right behind it was the Space Station! It was pretty cool to watch them fly across the sky. They were moving at 17,000 miles per hour and took only about two and a half minutes to fly over our sky.

Red Means Stop!

Yesterday, we were driving home with mom and saw a wreck! Well, we were first at the intersection and didn't see it happen, but we heard everything and smelled the airbags! A teenage girl ran a red light and a BMW t-boned her. The girl's car was completely smashed in on the driver's side. The BMW was totaled also, its bumper was laying about 25 feet away!
Since we were right there, I called 911 as fast as I could. My cell phone made a loud chime every minute after I hung up with 911, until I opened it and turned it off. I guess it must be a feature the phone has, incase I was in the wreck and someone couldn't find my location??

So many people run red lights in The Woodlands. Not just barely red lights, but red-red lights! This girl admitted she was not paying attention at all and playing with her radio. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but it looked awful.
Yeah, we took our picture for the day in the midst of the excitement! We were about to leave and couldn't be any more help so, why not!

Everyone be safe and remember, red means STOP!!

Fun in The Sun!!

Every summer, Jimmy takes his branch from work to Schlitterbahn Galveston! It is such a blast! This year, we got there before 10:00 and hit all the rides before the crowds came. We rode everything and never waited in line! It was awesome!! Before the day began, we took our picture for the day, then put the camera away.
After Schlitterbahn, we drove around Galveston. Jimmy hasn't been there since Ike hit last September. Its so great to see how the island is coming back together!

We made our way to the ship channel, just in time to see the Carnival Conquest pulling out. It made me so sad that we were not up on the ship about to have an awesome week! We went on the Conquest for our honeymoon, two years ago. Jimmy and I were talking about how much fun all the people on deck are having, what they will do tomorrow and how we wish we were up there!
Look at all those people on deck, listening to the steel drum bands, enjoying a nice pina colada. Oh, I'm so jealous!

Summer Projects

I really don't know how I have time for a job August - May! I feel like summers are a bunch of little projects broken up by big ones! My "to-do" list each day doesn't always include sleeping in or going to the pool!
This summer, we finally painted our bedroom! Last year, we painted the downstairs, but our upstairs was still very blah. Even though we got new bedroom furniture for our anniversary in 2008, the room still didn't feel right.

After sampling four different colors, we chose 'Grasshopper Wing." I was pretty nervous as it was going on, but I love love the way it turned out!!
Jimmy had to work one Saturday so, dad came over and helped me do the primer. (Thanks again, dad!!! If it wasn't for you, the trim on our 12ft ceilings would still be left unfinished!)
Maya and Layla camped out on the bed all day. Sometimes I wish I had their life.
The next day, I painted my bathroom, by myself! I like being able to show off what I did "all by myself" and how strong I am. I tried to take the mirror off alone, but OOPS! As you can see, it shattered on one whole side, leaving my hand with tiny cuts (which made lots of blood and looked worse than it was) and my gorgeous "Ta-Da" ruined!
I think if I could get the other side to match, it would look pretty cool. We decided to put it up, until we get a new mirror. Bummer.
I think spray paint could be one of the best inventions. Everything on my counter used to be brown. The cup, soap pump, toothbrush holder, basket, frame and clock would have had to be replaced if it wasn't for a 94cent can of black spray paint. I just saved us about $50 thankyouverymuch.
I also spray painted the live, laugh, love signs that go above the doors! I love it! The bathroom is painted two shades lighter than the bedroom. The color is called 'Restful.' I love how it turned out (besides the mirror, of course).
For our anniversary, mom and dad bought us the metal wall hanging that is above the bed. I had to spray paint that too, but of course I didn't mind - another dollar put to good use.
I feel like our house is finally coming together piece by piece. Since we built it, we really had nothing to work with. Its expensive making it look better than blah.

13.1

So, I just signed up for The Houston (Half) Marathon!! The big race is on January 17, 2010! I am so very excited I have committed to run it! For the past few years, my sister, Kasey, and I have been saying we should run it, but we never actually do it.
This year, I found a training group in The Woodlands that I have joined. The group meets every Saturday morning from last weekend until the run. Thats 28 Saturdays of not sleeping in, but I am excited! Kasey is going to train for the race in Nacogdoches, but run the half marathon in Houston also! This is a big commitment and takes a lot of planning, but I think we can do it! I will try to post how the training and running is going...only 6 months to go!

Seriously.

This was on our door last night when we got home. Would you call and leave your kids in their hands??
