Holiday Get-a-Way

We just got home from another fantastic trip to New Braunfels.  Actually, this long weekend, we toured all over the hill country!

On our way into town, we stopped in Austin to see our favorite girls and spend some time with them at Chuck-E-Cheese!

New Braunfels is gorgeously decorated for Christmas!

Mom, dad and Kasey came in on Sunday.  We went into Gruene for dinner.

SDC15333

Jimmy and I have been wanting to hike Panther Canyon in New Braunfels for awhile, but every time we go, it is so hot!  This time, it was a bit too chilly, but a wonderful morning for a hike!

Panther Canyon is at the mouth of the Comal River.  The river stays a constant 72 degrees all year long!  This weekend, it felt like bath water!

SDC15354

On Monday, we went into San Antonio!

SDC15355

It was so packed at the Alamo and all over the River Walk.

Isn’t he handsome?!

We met up with some old friends at Schilo’s on the River Walk.

The Hilton hotel makes a ‘life-sized’ gingerbread house every year.  When we were little, it was a tradition to come see the houses, then ride the elevator to the very top floor for an incredible view of the River Walk.

SDC15372

Jimmy actually crawled inside the gingerbread house!  Ignore the rope barrier in the foreground.  :)

This was another wonderful weekend in New Braunfels.  We LOVE this town and this area!  We will probably head back once or twice before Baby Davis comes!

Christmas Surprise!

A friend of mine, from my marathon group, is an ultra-sound tech, here in The Woodlands!  The Saturday before Christmas, she asked me if I wanted to come by her office at lunch on Monday to find out if Baby Davis is a boy or girl.  Since our normal appointment for that isn’t until January 15, we were thrilled!

All along, we have been so very certain we were having a boy…

Turns out, we were wrong!

Photo~12

Its a GIRL!

Photo~17

We didn’t tell anyone we were going in for the appointment.  Instead, we surprised the family with a cute picture frame and pictures on Christmas Day!

We are still trying to wrap our minds around the information since we were positive it was a boy, but we are very excited!

We have a few names in mind.  We will definitely post it when we have one picked out for sure!

I LOVE Christmas!

What an awesome Christmas we had!  We went to church on Christmas Eve, then spent the night at mom and dad’s house!

I just love coming down the stairs in the morning!  It is so much fun to see the tree and all the presents waiting for us!

SDC15272 SDC15273

We normally never get out of our pajamas all day.  We even wear them at Christmas dinner.

SDC15278

Kasey gave Jimmy a pretty nice axe for his camping trips.

SDC15279

This was my spot today, snuggled in with my babies.

SDC15280

This is the best Christmas tradition – mom’s monkey bread!  She puts it in the oven when we begin to open presents.  When the timer goes off, we take a break and eat!

SDC15281

Jimmy got this stocking for baby Davis!  I saw it at Pottery Barn Kids and knew we had to have it!  Kasey and I have big stockings too!

SDC15287

Mom and dad got a Wii for Christmas!  We played sports all day!

SDC15296

We finally changed and went for a run.  As soon as we came home, the pajamas were back on!

We are so blessed!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day also!!

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of The Year!

We LOVE Christmas!  This year, we decorated the house the weekend before Thanksgiving.  Last year, we didn’t get Christmas decorations up until two weeks before Christmas, and that was no fun.  We wanted to enjoy our festive house for as long as possible this year!

SDC15240

We got our tree the Christmas after we got engaged.  Most of our Christmas decorations were bought then, when everything was 75% off!  All of our presents are at my parents’ house now, ready for the big celebration tomorrow!

SDC15243

I don’t remember where we got this card holder, but I love it.  Each year, I have saved the cards with pictures.  It is so fun to look at all the pictures and cards every year when we unpack the boxes!

SDC15257

This is my FAVORITE Christmas decoration we own!  The Geislers gave us the entire Willow Tree Nativity set for our wedding.  I love, love this because it is so gorgeous and it means so much to us.

SDC15245

When we built the house, I was upset we didn’t put a fireplace in because we have no place for our stockings.  I guess other people have had this problem too.  I found this stocking holder in a catalog a few years ago.

SDC15254

A friend of mine gave me one of these little houses as a gift one year.  I thought it was so cute so, I bought the town.

SDC15256

For the past three years, we have hosted a big family Christmas party at our house the Sunday before Christmas.  Jimmy comes from a huge family (he’s the youngest of 5 brothers).  It is hard for everyone to get together on Christmas Day so, this is a great way for everyone to celebrate together.  Then, on Christmas Eve, we spend the night with my family!

SDC15247

We do a gift exchange and always have a blast!

SDC15249 SDC15250

Here is about 1/4 of the Davis family.  For some reason, this year, we were missing about 15-20 people!

SDC15253

I hope you all have a great Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!  I am planning on posting more tomorrow so, stay tuned!
