Best. Week. Ever.

This week was better than great!  Addison and I had a blast together each day!  It was almost a magical week.  Jimmy and I have been blessed with the happiest baby you will ever meet.  She is so laid back about everything and just goes with the flow.  Up until about two weeks ago, my only complaint was that Addison is not a good napper.  When we got back from Aspen, I bought her room darkening curtains.  Now, we consistently have a 2-2 hour a day napping baby!

Anyway, about this week…

Sunday started the perfect week off just right!  We went to Berryhill for some margaritas on the patio, then to a concert in the park with Leigh Ann and Paul.  Mom met us there and we all had a great time, with perfect weather!

On Monday, Addison and I went out to have lunch with Jimmy at work.  I do not envy his drive everyday!  Man, he works far away!  I am glad we were able to meet up with him at least the one time this week!

On Tuesday, we hung out with mom, while her car was in the shop.  She took this picture of Addison while we were in the car.  I love this one, but it makes me wonder…where did my baby go???

Wednesday was a big day for Addison!!  We spent a good part of the morning exploring the kitchen!  While that may not sound like a fun spring break to some, I loved it!  I love watching this girl discover and experience things for the first time!

SDC18881

…Like the door stop.  It was fascinating  to her!

SDC18882

I am still taking Addison’s weekly pictures!  She turned 41 weeks this past Wednesday!

SDC18891

Then, we had the most fun of all when we went swimming for the first time!!  Our PE teacher at my school has a heated pool and invited us over!

SDC18894

SDC18896

I was slow and cautious with Addison at first, but this girl is fearless!  She LOVED the pool!

SDC18897SDC18903

She kicked, splashed and put her face in the water all afternoon!

SDC18907SDC18914SDC18920

We were lucky enough to be invited back again on Friday!

SDC18921

She was even more fearless this time and didn’t want much to do with her float!  She would rather be in the pool on her own, splashing and going under water!

SDC18926SDC18929

Instead of wearing myself out, I set her on the huge top step and let her play on her own!

SDC18933SDC18934SDC18935

Once the boys came over to blow bubbles, she was right there, in the middle of the action with them!

SDC18938SDC18940

This morning (Saturday), Jimmy, Kasey and I ran the Warrior Dash with some people from Jimmy’s Bank.  If you haven’t heard about this race, YouTube It!  It was nuts!

SDC18944

It was a 3.2 mile race with 13 different obstacles.

SDC18948

Thankfully, we ran in the first wave (of 500 people).

SDC18950

This is a picture of the very last obstacle.  It was a swamp.  We had to army crawl/swim underneath barbed wire.

SDC18951

Other obstacles included a tire field, jumping over fire.  ‘running’ through a lake and going over 5 huge logs, a mud hill, rope wall and a pitch black tunnel that was about 50 yards long!

SDC18952SDC18955

Here are some ‘after’ pictures!  We were nasty!  This was a fun event, but it was a lot harder than I thought it would be!

SDC18957SDC18958SDC18959

We donated our shoes, once the race was over.

SDC18960

Tonight, we went to mom and dad’s house to grill out!  We LOVE going over there!!

SDC18969

Before dinner, Kasey, mom and I went and enjoyed a pedicure!

SDC18973

This was the perfect way to end a perfect week and a tiring day!

WOW!  I cannot explain how wonderful this week was!  Monday morning will be tough!  Of course, it will be hard to get up so early, work out and head to work, but I so don’t want to take Addison to the babysitter’s!!!  I have loved, loved every minute with my sweet girl this week!  She is getting easier each day.  I just adore her!

After rereading this post, I am overwhelmed with how blessed we are!  I sure feel lucky to have such a happy, healthy baby and a family that loves her just as much as we do!

I hope everyone else had a great week, too!

Whirlwind Trip to Aspen!

About two weeks ago, Jimmy called me in the middle of the work day.  He hardly ever calls while either of us are at work, unless something is up.  He was supposed to be in a big meeting, so I hurried up to answer his call!

SDC18675

He said, “Hey, Kell…How’s it goin?  I need you to take off March 7, 8, 9 and 10.”  My response was…”Umm…ok.  What’s going on?  And do you know that is the week before my spring break?”

Turns out, his bank invited the managers of the TOP FIVE branches in the company to head to Aspen, Colorado for a pleasure trip.  The only catch…they needed to know if we could go ASAP!

I called mom first thing and told her about our awesome deal.  My parents are beyond wonderful and she said, “Well, you have got to tell them you will go.  We can figure out the details with Addison later!”

Fast forward ten days to this…

SDC18684

Hellloooooo Aspen!  The airport is about 2 minutes from where the 2011 X Games were.

SDC18686SDC18689

Driving around town the first day, we were overwhelmed with how beautiful the scenery was!

SDC18691

Our hosts took us to the first store and told the group to stock up on what we wanted to drink for the week!

SDC18692

We didn’t stay in a hotel while we were there.  We stayed at the owner of the Diamondback’s house!  Holy cow!  This place was phenomenal!!!

Here is our room and one of the balconies.

SDC18712

Tommy is a manager at a branch in North Carolina.  His wife, Jamie, was awesome!  We had a great time with them!

SDC18716SDC18721

The first day we were there, we went to rent our ski equipment!  We were keeping our eye out for any celebrities we may see and turns out we found one.  Well, a pseudo-celebrity.  You may recognize him as the FBI agent on Castle, or the character, Nathan, from Heroes.  Adrian Pasdar was at Aspen Sports renting ski equipment with his kids.

I’m here to tell you he looks better than this in person.

SDC18723

Monday evening, we were treated with our own personal chef at the house.  They made amazing appetizers, soup, salad, steak and this for dessert for everyone.

SDC18730

Tuesday was ski day.  It snowed all night the night before, so supposedly the slopes were perfect!

SDC18746SDC18754SDC18758SDC18762SDC18766SDC18770SDC18771

I don’t handle heights very well.  I was great at skiing, but getting to the top of the mountain was tough for me.  I opted for a spa day the next day, while jimmy skied again.

It was better than I ever imagined.SDC18822

That morning, Jimmy and I played in the snow.  We had so much FUN!

This is just outside of our room, off the balcony.

The snow was so deep, it was too hard to walk through, so we crawled.

SDC18815SDC18819SDC18827

On the last night, we went to a delicious restaurant called Jimmy’s!!

SDC18824SDC18828SDC18829SDC18834

Jimmy ordered a rib-eye steak that was as big as his face.

SDC18835

He ate the whole thing!  Then, after showing his ID to prove his identity, he was allowed to sign the wall in the bar.

It was tough finding a good spot, but he was able to write his favorite quote and sign his name!

SDC18840SDC18843

Mel Gibson also signed the wall at Jimmy’s, even though he is obviously not a Jimmy.

SDC18845

What a marvelous trip!  It was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so glad we were able to have this experience!!
