Perfect Saturday

The weekend started on Friday night!  Jimmy called me from work on Friday afternoon to say he had been given two tickets to the Astros game!

After asking mom and dad to stay with Addison again, we headed to the ballpark!

The game wasn’t all too exciting, so we left early and went out to dinner.

On Saturday morning, we slept in!  It was so nice and refreshing!  This was the first weekend I didn’t have to get up to run at the crack of dawn!

We went to breakfast, then headed up to Seven Acre Woods for their Easter Festival.

My camera died after the next two pictures were taken, so I didn’t get a picture of Addison with the real bunny!  Hopefully, I can upload pics from my phone soon!

We went home for a nice long nap, then off to swim with friends!

Jimmy had not been swimming with Addison yet and they had a blast!!

It was a GORGEOUS day!

After swimming, we went to get yummy frozen yogurt with mom and dad, then home and straight to bed!

It was a long day, but probably the best day we have had in a long time!  The three of us had SO MUCH FUN!

Pet Day!

To end our unit studying pets, we hosted a Pet Day in Kindergarten!

DSCN0197

Everyone brought in their favorite stuffed pet!

I loved seeing all the pets and hearing why they are so special to the kids!

Then, Jimmy brought in my real life ‘pet!’

Baby Addison came to visit my class!!!

It was the greatest morning!

DSCN0193

She was so loved!  We had a ‘baby center’ for about 15 minutes!

DSCN0194DSCN0195DSCN0196

Addison got so much love and attention she didn’t want to leave!

It made me so happy to see her in the middle of the day!

Hope you all are enjoying the weekend!

Is it summer yet??

Its been hot, hot, hot here each afternoon!  Yesterday, I convinced Jimmy to blow up Addison’s baby pool for us!

DSCN0157

She loved the real pool over spring break, so I knew this would be a hit!

DSCN0158

Except, this time, the water was freezing!  She didn’t last too long.

DSCN0160

Once the weather gets even hotter and the pool water gets a bit warmer, I’m sure she will love this mini pool, too!

DSCN0163

Layla is pretty excited that we are outside more, too!  Our sprinkler system is broken, so Jimmy has to use the old fashioned sprinkler.

DSCN0164

Layla loves, loves, loves chasing the water and ‘eating’ it!

We cannot wait for summer!  Everyday will be spent doing fun things like this together!

Hot, Sandy, Hard Half Marathon

This past Saturday, Kasey, dad and I ran the Groveton Davey Crockett Bear Chase Half Marathon.

After running the Cowtown in Ft. Worth, we all decided we wanted to do one more half, while we were still trained, before it got too hot.

The week of the race, we couldn’t remember why in the world we signed up for this.  I had been sick since Tuesday, but I paid the money, so I had to run it!

DSCN0117

This race was quite a bit smaller than any race we have done in the past.  It was comparable to a 5K.  Nonetheless, we were ready to go!

DSCN0119DSCN0123

Turns out, this was the hardest run I have ever done.  I don’t know if it was because I was sick or if it was  because I pushed myself so hard to beat my goal of 2 hours.

DSCN0127

Really, I think it was so difficult because the first and last mile and a half was on a gravel rock road.  The middle two miles were through the woods on sand.  This was not even packed sand, it was loose beachy-type sand, and it sucked.

DSCN0129

About mile 11.5, I think my body started giving out.  I was stopping to walk without meaning to.  It was almost like I could not control what was happening, I just wanted to be done.DSCN0130

It was also about that time that I realized I would not make my goal time.

DSCN0136DSCN0137

Dad and Kasey both finished this awful race, too.

DSCN0138

Coming across the finish line, they both said, “That was ridiculous.”  or “That was the worst thing ever.”

DSCN0140DSCN0141

I am really glad we did this race.  I always am, looking back on the torture.

DSCN0143

I can honestly say that I gave this race everything I had!  I am done with these long runs for a few months.  I’ll see what runs the fall brings.  But for now, I think we are going to start back up on P90X to get ready for Hawaii!!

Beautiful Day for Bluebonnets!

This past weekend, Jimmy had to work on Saturday-day.  Addison and I spent the morning at mom and dad’s house, after a long run that morning.

Dad introduced her to a new realm of toys…

DSCN0024DSCN0026DSCN0028

Later that day, mom and I took her to get her pictures taken in the bluebonnets.  The weather was perfect!

Get ready for a picture heavy post…

DSCN0029DSCN0030

I got a new camera this week and I was excited to try it out!

She did so great, but would hardly look at the camera because she was so busy figuring out the flowers!

Saturday was also her 10 month birthday!!!  I have so loved taking her picture each month, but this was literally the best I got this time!

This girl is on the move and won’t sit still for anyone!
