Almost our Anniversary!!

Monday will be our FIRST ANNIVERSARY! Yea!! Last night, mom and dad had us over for dinner and gave us this cute plaque for our house!

Look how good it looks on our table!
For the past year, Jimmy and I have been sleeping on a queen size bed. About three days after coming back from our honeymoon, we realized it was way too small! )We both sleep way spread out, then you add in Layla and Maya and there is no room!) So, as an anniversary present to each other, we bought a new bedroom set! (Now we can start to decorate and paint our room!)
It is a lot bigger than it looked in the store! It fits in our room, but its tight!! The bed is so high, since there are drawers under it. I need a step stool to climb up in bed! Look how little Layla looks next to it!
We are going to New Braunfels this weekend with some friends to float the river. That will be our anniversary trip and we are so excited!! I will be sure to post pictures when we get back!

Layla loves the water!

Our crazy dog has loved the water hose since she was a puppy! We cannot water the grass or spray down the patio without her acting like this! Shes so much fun!

4th of July Weekend!

What a fun weekend!! On the morning of the 4th, we walked in The Woodlands 4th of July Parade with our church. It was so blazing hot, but it was a lot of fun! Here is a video of our band, just at the end of the parade!

4th of July is also Layla's birthday!! I put a hat on her and tried to have fun, but I think she hated me for it! Shes so cute!
Some family friends of ours have a 4th of July party every year and it gets bigger each year! At the end of the night, they impressed us all with an awesome fireworks show! Jimmy couldn't believe we were in a neighborhood watching these fireworks because they were awesome! I have attached some pictures and video of our fun night!!

Our kids...

So, a lot of the blogs I read are of people my age, or older with kids. Its great to read all about and look at pictures of the cute kids! I know I will do the same thing when we have kids, but since that won't be anytime soon, my kids are our puppies!! Layla will be three this Friday and Maya is barely 5 months old. They are so much fun and bring us so much joy and laughter. It has been great having the dogs with me this summer! They love to play first thing in the morning when I am working out. As soon as I get home from teaching swim lessons, they know its nap time and we all curl up on the couch to watch Regis and Kelly and The View that I recorded.

I have always been an animal lover, but Jimmy, not so much. After living with a dog for almost a year, they have won him over! They are so excited to see him when he comes home and I know he loves it. Since it has been somewhat uneventful around the Davis house lately and I have nothing else to blog about, here are some pictures of our kids!!

Big Vacation of 2008

So, we have been back for a week now. I should have posted a blog awhile ago, but we have not had internet and well, I have actually been busy. I am teaching swimming lessons this summer. Not too exciting, but it gives me something to do.
Our trip to the Riviera Maya was awesome! The resort was beautiful and the beach was so nice! My favorite part was just laying on the beach, not doing anything, except having a pina colada or mud slide. :)
Jimmy is pumped because he got to go scuba diving twice. The second time they went diving, they dove in what is called a cenote. A cenote is a sink hole in the ocean basically. So, they really went cave diving. The less brave people in our group had the opportunity to jump in and swim in a cenote, but more above water. It reminded me of The Natural Bridge Caverns in New Braunfels. We made it to Cozumel on Monday to meet up with Kelly and J. It was a lot of fun getting to hang out with them one more time before they head for Cali. We went shopping in Playa del Carmen and I got to hold a monkey! It was awesome! The next day, Jimmy and I ran into a few other animals as well! We wanted to check out other beaches so, we went to Playa Mamitas. Turns out, our was just as fabulous!
Here are some other pictures of our beautiful beach. Jimmy is an awesome photographer!
We are already talking about where we should go on vacation next year. We are tossing around the idea of flying to California to meet up with friends, then take a cruise out of Las Vegas. There has also been the thought of going to St. Lucia, Zihuatenejo or somewhere else we have never been. Any ideas????

The Glorious Mundane

"The Glorious Mundane" I recently heard that phrase. The more I think about it, the more I realize how perfect it summarizes life. Mundane means ordinary, predictable, routine, the everyday. We have been married now for over 10 months. Ok, I know its not a long time and we are still "Newlyweds" but we have our 'routine,' our predictable everyday. We have our schedules worked out and we know pretty much what is going to happen tonight. There aren't too many unordinary events that happen at our house. But enough about how boring it is....lets get to the GLORIOUS part! We love our "mundane" life. Jimmy and I have settled into a pattern that we enjoy. We love to do things together - even though we may just watch tv in our pajamas, bake pizza and eat dinner in the living room (a big no-no when we were growing up) or take the dogs on a walk, we love it. Our life is fun and for the most part planned out. I have an idea of what is going to happen everyday from now until we leave for the vacation (next Wednesday - YEA!). Thats ok with us though. Because it always seems that once you get used to your routine, everyday, predictable life, God throws you a curve ball and turns things upside down...

Some sad news...our good friend, Jeremiah, recently lost his job. After about a month of searching, applying and sending resumes, he finally got hired!! We are so happy and prayers are definitly answered for their family! The sad part - the job is in California. We have become close with this family the past few years. Their two oldest girls were our flower girls in the wedding and their youngest is our God-daughter. Jeremiah has to be in California on June 23 and Kelly and the girls will be leaving on July 1. This is harder for me than I thought it was going to be. Kelly has become a great friend and we love those girls so much! I guess this is just one of those things in life that reminds us that it isn't as always as predictable, uneventful and mundane as you think.....
