Lovin’ Life with our 9 month old!

Hello!  Things have been beyond wonderful in the Davis home lately!  Have I mentioned how much we love this sweet, busy girl?!?  Taking her weekly and monthly picture is becoming more and more of a challenge.  She is so active and thrilled to explore!  Here are a few attempts from our ‘photo shoot’ this past week.

She turned 9 months and 39 weeks on the same day!

Jimmy and I took her for her 9 month well check last week.  She is (and I quote) “Off the chart” in height at 30 inches and 28% in weight at  17 pounds, 14 ounces.  I could have told them that.  The only pants that fit her waist fir like capris!  She must get her height from my dad and sister!

This weekend, she has been a sleeper!  I had to wake her up at 9am on Saturday.  We played in her room for awhile.  Gosh, she is just becoming more and more fun everyday!

I left to grab my phone and came back in the room to this…

standing baby

There is a standing baby!  Holy Cow!  Look at that cute, kinda curly blonde hair!  Gorgeous!

I think this is one of my new favorite pictures…(I mean, look at those eyes on her!!!!)

lunch date

After Addison woke up from her morning nap, we ate lunch and headed to Houston to visit Jimmy at work.  Turns out, he was leaving, just as we were getting there.  Instead of heading inside, we enjoyed a lunch date at La Madeline!  Addison is so great in restaurants!  She enjoys watching the business around her and loves snacking on whatever we are eating!

This week, Jimmy and I are off to ASPEN!  He is doing a phenomenal job at the bank, so they are sending us there for fun!  Oh man!  When we found out about this trip, I was already so anxious about leaving Addison!  Mom said, “You guys have to go, we will watch Addison and work out the details later.”  Do you see how lucky we are??  We know how blessed we are to have family so close!  I know we will have a fun time, but I will miss my girl so much!  Hopefully, the next post will be all about our trip!

13.1?? Done and Done!

Fabulous, gorgeous, wonderful weekend!

On Friday night, we headed to Arlington for the Cowtown Half Marathon!

SDC18614

Saturday was a long day, but we had a blast!  I didn’t sleep very well all weekend because Addison didn’t sleep very well all weekend.  She woke up several times in the middle of the nights and probably didn’t know where she was.  Nonetheless, she was the happiest baby in the world all weekend.

After the Marathon Expo on Saturday, we went to dinner with Mucka, Aunt Lori, Lauren and the Geislers.  On The Border has the best pina coladas I’ve ever had.

DSCI0729

Sunday morning, we had to leave the house at 5:25!  We got to the race early and went to their church service.

DSC00082

I started getting a bit nervous and anxious about this time.  I was exhausted because of the night interruptions from Addison and I was second guessing if I was really prepared for this or not.  Since having Addison, I ran a 10 mile race in October and did an 11 mile training run with dad and Kasey three weeks ago.

DSC00083DSC00085

I love the energy everyone has at a race!  Some people are already running to ‘warm up’ before the race.  I think that’s stupid.  You won’t find me running before I leave to run a half marathon.

DSC00089

Most people are bouncing around, trying to stay warm and to calm their nerves.

DSC00093

Turns out, we just take pictures!!  I am so thankful the Geislers came out with us that morning early-early to take these pictures for us!

Mom and jimmy stayed with Addison and they came out later!  They were able to see us cross the finish line!

Once again, Addison was a trooper!  We are certainly blessed with a wonderful baby!

DSCI0736DSCI0737

Here I am, crossing the 13 mile mark!  I can see the finish line and I was thrilled!  There is something about seeing the finish line that gives me a huge burst of energy.  I forgot I just ran that far and I started sprinting to the end!

DSCI0738

I ran with Dad and Kasey for about 8 1/2 miles.  My ankles were burning pretty bad.  I finally decided that I needed to just run as fast as I could and finish the race as soon as possible or else I wasn’t going to make it.  Once I started picking up the pace, I began to realize that I could possibly beat my time from the Houston Half in January 2010.  I really used the downhill parts to pick it up.  The closer I got, the more excited I got, thinking I could beat my own time.  It almost became a game to me to finish as fast as I could.

I crossed at 2:16 min (gun time).  My actual time was 2:10!!!  I beat my time from last year’s half by about 6 minutes!  (Of course, this year, I wasn’t pregnant!)

SDC18628DSC00117

I am so thankful we have so many people who love us enough to come out and cheer us on so early in the morning!

Addison may be the only person who didn’t understand what the heck she was doing out in the chilly wind.

Even though running a half marathon is one of the hardest things I have done, it is a blast!!!

I am thinking of searching the internet to find another one that is soon.  I want to beat 2:10!

Today, I am taking off.  I just dropped baby at the babysitter’s house and I am about to run errands and chill out.  A day off is definitely needed after a day like yesterday!!

Big Bow!

Through a friend's Facebook, I came across this blog...
They have a little girl who just turned four months old. She has blogged about Maddie since she was born, just like I do about Addison. Just about enjoing their life with their little family.
Last week, their Maddie died unexpectedly, while at the babysitter's.
Today is Maddie's funeral.
Her mom, Kellie, blogged this week and asked everyone to put their babies in a 'big bow' today since Maddie loved big bows.
I cannot even begin to fathom what they are going through. My heart breaks for this couple everytime I think about their baby. I don't understand why we are blessed with such a happy, healthy baby when others suffer unimaginable tragedy.
Since reading their blog, I cannot stop thinking about them. Before you go read what she has written, grab a Kleenx, you will need it.
Pray for this family and their sweet baby girl, Maddie.
And hug your baby lots and lots today!

What Weekends Should Be Like…

This weekend was Awe.Some.  At least I thought it was awesome.  Jimmy likes a weekend where we can get more things accomplished.  These past few days have been packed with fun.

On Saturday, we went to Jonah’s 3rd Birthday party!  We got there late because Addison was sleeping, but neither of them knew any different.

 SDC18468

Look how cute they are!  We think this is a good one to show at their wedding slide show!

SDC18474

Even though it was late in the afternoon, we headed to Old Town Spring to a winery we really enjoy.  Instead of having wine there, we just bought a few bottles and came home.  It was still nice to enjoy more time outside though.

SDC18480

After church today, we went to Rico’s with mom, dad and Kasey!  I love sitting outside to eat, especially when we all order a margarita!

 SDC18485 SDC18487 SDC18490 SDC18491 SDC18492

Addison was a champ all day!  She is so much fun and is such a ‘go with the flow’ type baby.

SDC18496

She had her first tastes of soft serve ice cream after lunch!

SDC18500 SDC18502

Can you tell how much she LOVED it??

SDC18508

Really loved it!

(Shocking, i know.)

SDC18511 SDC18513

I was excited this morning to put these bloomers on her!  They finally fit!

SDC18514

It was a long day at church and lunch!

SDC18517

We met Paul and Leigh Ann at another restaurant near our house for maybe another margarita.

SDC18518

It was just too beautiful to not enjoy all the time outside!

SDC18519

I love a laid back weekend like this one was!  Next weekend, we are heading to Arlington for the Cowtown Half Marathon!!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We have never done much for Valentine’s Day.  Tonight, Jimmy brought home BJ’s Pizza and cheesecake!  While he is working out, I decided to do a quick post…

Our Valentine weekend was just like any other weekend, but I did make a point to take a picture of the three of us!

SDC18392

When I updated this blog background and heading, I realized the last picture we had of our little family was from Christmas or from Addison’s 6 month pictures (2 1/2 months ago).

SDC18381 SDC18390

Its proving to be harder and harder to make sure all three of us 1. look at the camera, 2. smile, 3. not have hands in mouths (more about Addison than us!) and 4. keep our eyes open.

We did get some good ones between my camera and mom’s.

SDC18394

Look how BIG she is getting!

SDC18396 SDC18399

The other morning, I looked at the monitor and saw Addison sound asleep like this….

SDC18378SDC18379

I think she must have sat up and played for a bit.  When we didn’t hear her or go get her, she probably just passed out.

I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day!
