Pictures!

Since we have started the "365 in 2009" Project, we have had our camera on us more than normal. Here are some fun, cute, awesome pictures from the past month. (Yes, I realize many of them are of our dogs...)

I love Layla!

Freezing cold day!
On my way to school, I had to stop and take these beautiful pictures!
These two are from the same day, just different angles.
Maya had a long day of sleeping!
Best dog ever!

Dave Ramsey and Financial Peace

I have been meaning to post about this for awhile now. I think posts without pictures (on my blog) are a little boring, but now I finally have pictures to correspond with the topic!
Ever since Jimmy and I were married, we saved money every month. Thats what you are supposed to do, right? The problem is, we never had a specific plan for our money so, it easily disappeared on little/big things. (Ex: paint for the downstairs, a new puppy, a sprinkler system....it goes on and on.)
Well, last July, you may remember we bought this super comfy bed set! However, we went a little over budget on it. At the same time, we had pledged more to our church, our escrow payments went up and several little financial related items came up, causing us to panic. A few years ago, I bought the book "The Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey, but never read it. After the bed set money fiasco, I pulled it out for Jimmy and he got really into it! We started watching The Dave Ramsey Show on TV and took the Financial Peace University classes. Jimmy even leads the FPU class at our church now! (I can't even tell you how proud I am of him, expecially since he hates public speaking!)
Six months after following Dave's steps to "Financial Peace," we have about 4 times more money in our savings account than we did in a full year! We are paying a whole lot more on our mortgage each month and we have savings accounts for big, important things that are in our future: car and baby (no, thats not an announcement, but we are planning ahead). We are hoping to pay cash for a new-to-us, but used car next March.
I am not bragging, I am just saying check out Dave and his steps! They really work!
So, this past Saturday, Dave Ramsey came to Houston for a Live Event! We volunteered to work the event all day. It was a long day, but a ton of fun! We even got to meet Dave!! I think it was a day Jimmy will always remember!
This is our Day 24 of 365 picture for our photo project!
Over 8,000 people attended the event! It was awesome!

Puppy Love

This picture was yesterday's contribution to 365 in 2009. We are 12 days into the project and are having a great time with it. Sometimes, it gets hard to come up with what picture to take. I find myself always thinking about having the camera with me and trying to set up a good picture. Its unplanned shots like this one that are my favorite. We thought we already had our Day 12 picture taken, but, I snapped this one for fun. And despite having no make up and greasy hair, I love it. I don't think Jimmy knew I was taking this picture, or he wouldn't have been trying to get Maya to bite him.

365 in 2009

I have been hearing about "Project 365" for awhile now. The start of a new year seemed like a great time to begin! Jimmy and I are going to take one picture a day this year. We are trying to be creative as we photograph our daily activities. Here is the link to our project and our first 4 pictures.....

1 of 365: New Year's Kiss

2 of 365: Putting together a puzzle Jimmy got me

3 of 365: Jimmy hard at work on the puzzle

4 of 365: Walking the dogs - another new year's resolution
We are really pumped about doing this. I just hope we can stick to it! It has been fun the past few days! The challenges are going to be finding the time, deciding on what to photograph and finding a good "tripod" to steady the camera. To learn more about starting your own, click here. Be sure to let me know if you decide to begin your own 365! Enjoy!!

Sad Day...

Jimmy's snowman finally died. (Yes, we have had it in the freezer for almost a month). I am not sure what happened, but his head fell off, and it was down hill from there....

The tequila may have had something to do with it, we aren't sure. He lost his eyes too...
Then Layla ate him.
Maybe we will be lucky enough to have another snowman in our freezer one day. It probably won't be in the near future. It was 78 degrees here today!

Happy Happy New Year!!!

New Year's Eve 2009 was great this year! We didn't go all out, but we did do something, which is more than we can say for the past few years. We decided to spend New Years with Jimmy's brother and his family and it was a blast! Since we were going to stay the night at their house, we first had to drop off the babies with mom and dad!

This is Travis, Jimmy's youngest nephew. He thought it was funny to shoot us with this gun and the bullets that actually stuck to us!
Trav and I about to play Pictionary with the family.
Happy New Year! We counted down together then celebrated by shooting off fireworks!

Travis, Jimmy and Dalton taking a break from the fireworks.
Jimmy, Kelley, Lewis, Wendi and Ronnie
Wendi made everyone eat cabbage and black eyed peas after midnight for wealth and good luck!
In the morning, this is what I found the boys doing in their room! They are 'hunting' black birds from their window. Notice Travis' gun!
It was a great start to 2009! Happy New Year Everyone!
